About Clean Lineup
This site is not official health advice. It republishes public data from health agencies and NOAA/NWS, which can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong after our processing. Always obey posted signs and lifeguards and check the official source before going in.
Water-quality status
- San Diego County — County of San Diego DEHQ, sdbeachinfo.com. Each spot maps to one or more official monitoring sites; the worst status wins.
- Los Angeles County — LA County DPH beach map and advisory page. County-wide rain advisories apply to every LA spot.
- Orange County — OC Health Care Agency, ocbeachinfo.com closures, warnings and advisories. A spot is shown "Open" only when that page was read successfully and lists nothing for the area.
- Ventura County — Ventura County Environmental Health sampling results map, read from the public ArcGIS layer behind it (VC Safe Beaches). Categories follow the county legend: meets standards = Open; warning, exceeds standards or post-rainfall advisory = Advisory; not sampled = No recent data.
- Santa Barbara County — Santa Barbara County Environmental Health ocean water monitoring map, read from its public ArcGIS layer. Open / Warning / Rain / Closed are shown as the county posts them; a status older than 14 days shows No recent data.
If a source can't be reached, the spot shows No recent data. We never guess a status.

Bacteria grades
Latest dry- and wet-weather grades (A+ to F) come from Heal the Bay's Beach Report Card, based on county sampling, matched to the nearest sampling site.
Water temperature
From the nearest NOAA NDBC buoy or NOS/CO-OPS station reporting a water temperature in the last 6 hours. Distance to the station is shown on each spot.
Rain
72-hour rainfall from National Weather Service observations (api.weather.gov) at LAX, SNA, SAN, Oxnard and Santa Barbara airports. Above 0.1″ we show a rain banner with the hours left in the 72-hour window.
